Optimization and Characterization of Centrifugal-Cast Functionally Graded Al-SiC Composite Using Response Surface Methodology and Grey Relational Analysis

In this study, an optimization approach was employed to determine the optimal main parameters that improve performance of functionally graded composites manufactured using a combination stirring and horizontal centrifugal casting. Pure aluminum reinforced with silicon carbide particles used as material for composites. The effects key input such mold speed, pouring temperature, radial distance were optimized grey relational analysis response surface methodology. statistical significance predicted grade model assessed through variance identify appropriate parameters. results showed had greatest impact on composites, followed by temperature. determined be speed 1000 rpm, temperature 750 °C, 150 1 mm. Confirmation tests these values resulted in 54.69% improvement grade.
